Patric is a car guy… always has been. When he entered the School-to-Work program in his last year of high school, his career goal was to work at an auto place. And he wasn’t looking for just any auto place. He wanted one that would teach him how to work on cars.
Mike and Debbie had opened H-1 Auto Care a couple years ago. They had reached a point where they had two goals:
- Place some structure around their growing business and set up working systems.
- Find a way to begin giving back to the community.
Patric had transportation and was willing to learn from the ground up.
Mike and Debbie wanted to support the School to Work program and they wanted Patric to document his training in order to create a safety manual!
Although Patric just started, they’re both excited to watch him learn and grow.
Patric is thrilled to be working in the automotive industry and can’t wait to learn more about working on cars.
Patric’s employment consultant says “School to Work is designed to help young adults with disabilities transition from school into the work community in a seamless way. The program was developed to eliminate the historic gap in services for youth who graduated without plans or a job to grow into.”
She notes that this particular job match feels good! She can tell both parties are happy.
Maybe it’s the smiles!
